Role

Product Design Lead - I manage a small team of designers as well as support two of our three engineering pods. I also lead and manage all UX initiatives for the organization.

01 - Getting the fundamentals right

As a new Product team, we wanted to set ourselves up for success by making sure the foundational elements of the app were sturdy before building upon them. I started by doing a UX audit of the entire app and making UX improvement suggestions. After that, I got started on a basic Design System that our engineers could leverage to start creating some more cohesive patterns within the app.

Once our building blocks were in place we gave the entire app a face lift and now we are finally on the path of being able to iterate on existing features, while building new ones.

Before & Afters

02 - Add value (Income MVP–v2)

We had some pretty big aspirations for 2020 - Q121 and being the only designer meant that I was able to play an integral role in the success of our 2020 - Q21 initiatives.

We started looking at the features that were already in place and how we could add value to them from a user perspective. The first thing we tackled was Income Tracking.

We looked at the data and engineering framework that was already in place and leveraged them to give users a more in-depth way to track their income while keeping the impact on our data and engineering teams low. We offered users new ways to analyze and track their income through details income insights and an income comparison tool.

03 – Keep going

After we felt we could deliver value through our MVP version of Income we have continued to add value through incremental big and small improvements. Lets chat, I will tell you about them. :)
